The Liebster Blog Award

And, it’s award time. After a long while. 🙂 I was just wondering what to blog about and I got the answer in the form of a nomination. So, let me get to it, right away!

Hira Nazir from her blog of the same name has been kind enough to include me in her nominations for the Liebster Blog award and the Very Inspiring Blogger Award (second time!). Thank you very much, Hira. Do check out her blog, all ye readers. Her posts are fun to read, witty and thought-provoking.

I’ve already complied with the rules for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award; you can check it out here. Now, to get to the inevitable rules for the Liebster Blog Award. I was wondering about the meaning of the word ‘Liebster’ and just googled it. Apparently, it’s a German word meaning beloved or dearest, and the award is intended to help up-and-coming blogs to get the attention they deserve. I also found this blog post about the possible origins of the award. The rules seem to have changed a lot. Like, a LOT! Anyway, as per Hira’s post, these are the rules:

1. Post the award image on your blog. There are several varieties. Google them and find the one you like the most.

2. List 11 random facts about yourself.

3. Answer the 11 questions asked by the person/people who nominated you.

4. Make up 11 questions for those to be nominated.

5. Nominate 11 people to receive the award. They should have fewer than 200 followers on their blog.

6. If you’re nominated, your name and/or link will appear at the bottom of this post.

Rule 1 – Done!

11 random facts (I’m seriously running out of random facts about myself).

* I’d love to get into acting, because I like acting and because I want to know what the experience would be like.

* I hate it when people mispronounce or use words in the wrong context.

* I’m an atheist but love to know more about different religions, their histories, customs, so on.

* I’d love to work as a librarian, probably because I love the thought of being surrounded by so many books!

* I like observing people and deducing (more like making up stories) stuff about them.

* I have developed a new-found love for photography.

* I’m brilliantly skilled at scaring my sister and mom (never tried it on anyone else) with my scary noises/expressions. 😀

* I hate superhero movies!

* I started playing Criminal Case on Facebook last week (because I was jobless, OBVIOUSLY) and now, I’m tired of/bored with it.

* I love books (fiction & autobiographical) about war-torn Muslim countries. I’m strangely drawn to such books, and want to visit those countries sometime in life.

* I like thinking up crazy, stupid nicknames for people I’m close to.

Whew! And I’m done. Now, to answer Hira’s 11 questions –

What is that special thing you’d present globally as a recognition of your country?

The first things to come to my mind were the sari and/or the national flag.

Do you believe in equal rights globally, irrespective of the nation, color, tribe, religion? Enlighten your answer.

Yes, I do believe in equal rights globally. Irrespective of a person’s nationality, colour, tribe, religion and gender, everyone has the right to strive for what they want in life. And how can a person possibly achieve or try to achieve something if they are not given equal rights? For instance, being denied an opportunity to fulfill your dream because of your nationality. [I hope that made sense]

One favorite best seller book of yours?

First book to come to mind – A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini

One person you’d love to dine out with?

Lucky Ali 😀

The biggest nightmare you keep?

A supernatural happening in real life

Do you believe in love at first sight? If yes, then why?

I do not believe in love at first sight.

Anything that makes YOU special than others or is your plus point?

My attitude, the way I question everything and refuse to let others’ views change mine.

Do you have any phobia? If yes, then mention.

I’m scared of cockroaches, actually most insects. 😀

How do you interpret the phrase: “Be and it shall be.”

I’d interpret it as: You believe something to ‘be’ and it shall be. If you strongly believe in something, it will happen.

The lesson from  life you have got so far?

Never stop dreaming, believe in yourself and keep striving for what you want.

Why did you answer the above questions?

Honestly? Because I love answering questions! 🙂

11 questions for the nominees –

1. Name one movie you would watch over and over again.

2. What are you thinking, right now? As in, now now now.

3. Why do you think I nominated you?

4. Name one value you strongly believe in. And explain why.

5. What do you love most about yourself?

6. If you could choose to take up any profession of your choice, what would you choose?

7. What do you love the most about blogging?

8. If you could be in the shoes of someone from the past, who would you choose?

9. Name a book/movie character which you felt was exactly like you.

10. If you could make one change in your country, what change would you bring about?

11. What supernatural power would you like to have?

I hope you have fun answering the questions, because I had fun coming up with them.

Very Very Inspiring

The past couple of days (and even today) have been a rollercoaster of emotions. But, first things first!

Anarya (that’s what I call her, atleast) nominated me for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. 🙂 And, I’m truly honoured. I don’t know if ‘inspiring’ is a word that can be attributed to my blog. But then, that should be decided by the readers, I believe. And if Anarya thinks I’m good enough to be nominated for this award, then all I can say is “Thank you, Anarya, thanks a LOT!” I love her blog and think she deserves the award. I don’t remember how I got to her blog, which post I read first or, basically, how it all began. But, I love her blog. It’s inspiring and interesting. Do check it out! I’m sure you will enjoy her awesome thoughts and beautiful photographs.

As part of the award rules, I have to share 7 facts about myself.

1. I just had an awesome end to a very normal kinda day. [not good enough for a ‘fact’, I suppose?]

2. I don’t like darkness, I feel suffocated when I’m in complete darkness.

3. I have never had a role model or anyone whom I’d like to idolize in life. If at all I had to choose someone, I’d probably end up choosing myself!

4. I love the sound of my fingers clicking away on the keyboard. LOVE IT!

5. I’ve rediscovered my fascination for the rain. It’s an incredible experience.

6. I’m scared I will disappoint myself, under-perform and not live upto my expectations ultimately.

7. I’m super-stubborn and I love that! 🙂

And now, I’m supposed to pass on this gesture of appreciation by nominating 15 other bloggers. I don’t think I can come up with 15! So, I’ll just pick out some blogs that inspire me. Ahhh…here goes.

Yeah, That Crazy Blog… It’s Here!

Personal Concerns

Tadaaa…I’m done.

So, I mentioned that the past two days were filled with emotional ups and downs. But I didn’t tell you how my mind was getting flooded by a hell lot of thoughts, did I? Well, the journey during the weekend, the experiences, the people in my life…everything has given me enough and more to contemplate on. So, I guess you are going to have some great posts coming up here. 🙂

The Reader Appreciation Award – Just Made My Day!

[The following was written last night, actually yesterday early morning. In the end, I was so unhappy with it that I couldn’t bring myself to publish it. But these are thoughts I want to put across…so, here goes!]

So, I’ve been staring at this empty space for quite a while, now. And I thought I should be writing something… It’s 1:00am. I’m not sleepy. But my little sister (who loves staying up with me) is already dozing off near me. I tried keeping her busy by giving her some  funny stuff to watch but that doesn’t seem to be working.

I guess I should just blog and be done with this, so that Ann and I can go sleep. 🙂 When I wrote the post about how I was feeling down, I mentioned a blog that had inspired me to write it out – hastywords. I was catching up on her posts, today. And I found another post that I could relate to so amazingly – My Heart The Traitor. Basically, it’s about how she discovered the source to her negativity and the way to destroy it. Beautiful post. And there were so many parts in it which touched me beyond words!

I loved her thought about positivity being all around us, how looking up at the stars and the miracles all around us can give us a sense of it. ‘From darkness…there is light.’ So so so true! It’s something I believe in but when it turns dark, I forget to remember that I’ll find light at the other end.

Anyway, I think I’m getting there…finally seeing light. Trying to break through the layer of darkness and see beyond, into the enlivening light. And go sailing in a small boat on the vast ocean…

I think I should get to sleep…or I’ll sleep-blog! 😛 By the way, it’s just past 2am and Ann’s already gone off to bed. [ Luckily, I stopped right here, or you would have had to read some of the nonsense I write when I’m on the verge of sleeping off!]

A new day. And guess what? When I logged in to my WP account, I was in for a wonderful surprise. It just made my day! 🙂 Matt (aka theotherwatson) at Wanton Creation nominated me for the Reader Appreciation Award!!!! 🙂 I can’t tell you how happy I was. Even though I know you love me so much, these awards are like an awesome extra-bit of appreciation! And it always feels great! But the best part, for me, is that these awards seem to come right when I need them. As in, when I’m going through a low-time or having writer’s block, I get nominated for an award and it completely changes my mood! 🙂 Thank you so so so much, Matt. You have no idea how happy I’m! 🙂

Like with every other award, this one comes with some rules. Apart from  linking back to the person who nominated me (check), including the image (check) and nominating 6 other bloggers, I’m supposed to say something about what I’ve been upto.

Well, I had been experiencing a down-time. But now, I’m almost out of it. I’ve been watching some movies, listening to a lot of music, reading some really lovely blogs, talking to and spending time with Ann and basically, just making most of my time here at the heaven I call ‘home’! Yesterday, Ann and I did some crazy stuff together. And yeah, I made her stay up while I was writing a post that I didn’t even publish! 😀 So, that’s what I’ve been upto!

Now, to pass on the award… Well, there are so many bloggers I like. And I’m going to choose 6 bloggers whom I haven’t nominated before. So, here goes:

emotional salad – Love her thoughts! 🙂

Live, Learn, Mature – My awesome blog-friend 🙂

kkeilly – I stumbled upon her blog one day. And it was love at first sight!

hastywords – She’s sort of an emotional soul-mate, as you might have understood by now!

Personal Concerns – Because I love the thought-provoking stuff he writes!

PIECES – Love his poems! 🙂

Check out their blogs, I’m sure you’ll find them super-awesome!

Love y’all! 🙂

Spread Some Sunshine! :)

Hulllooooo… I AM BACK!! 🙂 And I can’t tell you how great it feels. The moment I stepped back into college, my first thought was about coming to the Lab (the computer lab, that’s where I blog, mail and basically, use the Internet from). That’s what I wanted to do right away. And here I am! Just an hour after I got back, I’m actually sitting and typing out stuff instead of going to hostel and taking rest. 😀

Anyway, I was all ready to write about my one week away. But I was in for a really awesome surprise. I was nominated for the Sunshine Award by Susan Rocan at mywithershins!! She has just made my day, literally! I was already so happy about being able to blog again after so long. And she has just made me super-super-happy!! Thank you so much, Susan. I’m glad I make you smile, knowing that means a lot to me. 🙂 To all you readers out there: do check out her blog; it’s filled with interesting ideas and all the creativity that she comes up with!

Another interesting fact is that I love sunshine! I think I have mentioned this in an earlier post. I love sunshine…and days with a lot of sunshine! I can’t help feeling this rush of happiness when I wake up and see warm sunshine streaming into the room (if you’ve noticed, the image in my header shows sunshine, symbolizing a new beginning & happiness). A couple of days ago, I was telling someone that sunshine is one of my favourite words! 🙂 And now, I love it all the more! 😀

So, this award, like every other award, comes with certain conditions. They are:

  • Answer 10 questions about yourself
  • Nominate 10-12 other fabulous bloggers
  • Link your nominees to the post and comment on their blogs, letting them know they have been nominated
  • Share the love and link the person who nominated you.

I have already included the award’s logo and linked the person who nominated me. And now…Here are the answers to 10 questions about myself.

Favorite non-alcoholic drink: Water, Mango/Orange juice

Now, the nominations! 🙂 I don’t know if I can come up with 10, but I’ll try.

Willy’s Weblog – One crazy blog by a crazy guy. It’s been a while since he posted last, but when he does, it is always something hilarious, sure to make me smile (if not laugh like crazy)!!

writtentessa – She is a writer, teacher and lots more, I’m sure. Her posts have some deep thoughts that always touch me in some ways. Love her writing!

Adventures on the Road – A blog by an amazing woman who loves photography and travelling apart from writing. 🙂 Atleast, that’s what I have understood. Her photos are incredible, and her thoughts and descriptions always make me smile!

Brooke & McKenzie – Two best friends share their experiences in the world of dating. Awesome stuff!!! I love reading their posts. Apart from being hilarious, it’s so candid and touches on so many deep thoughts about love.

Anywhere but Ayr – David (the awesome author of this blog) hasn’t been posting very often, lately, probably due to his schedule. But this is one blog I love reading. Even when he talks about normal, personal stuff that happens in his life, there’s something distinct about his writing that makes you read on. Love it! David, hope you get back soon! Here’s something to spread some sunshine in your blog-space! 🙂

Good Humored – Like the name suggests, it’s humour, humour and a lot more of it! Paprika (the author) has a wonderful way of coming up with the zaniest thoughts about the most mundane things (laundry, lollipops, to name a few). It always makes me smile. She definitely deserves some sunshine!

Deidra Alexander’s Blog – Another blog which will make you smile. Deidra’s blog is crazily funny. You will love it; I did. 🙂

wantoncreation – I happened to read his blog by some fortunate chance and have been a follower since then! 🙂 It’s all about books…be it about the ones he has read, going to read, wanting to read or characters or authors… Basically, it’s about books! I love his reviews. I always end up wanting to read the books, even if it may not be my kind of stuff. 🙂

Sarah Smiles Awhile – Ahhh…this is one blog that deserves this award completely. Sarah’s posts are always sure to make me laugh. Always. Whenever I start with a post of hers, I know I should be ready to burst out laughing any moment. It spreads so much of sunshine! 🙂 Awesome blog, love it!

merlinblogss – A blog by my crazy friend, Merlin. I was amazed that she actually started blogging. Some of her thoughts seem so profound, even though she never seems to talk much sense otherwise. 😛 Anyway, this is a little something to spread some light on her way into the blogging world! 🙂 Merlin, keep at it! 🙂

Whew! I guess I made it! :)Thanks again, Susan. My day just got better! 🙂

Well, I have had a great week. It feels great to be back. And there’s so much to tell! 🙂 Tomorrow, I’ll be filling you in on all the crazy stuff that happened, all the nonsense thoughts I had and everything else… 🙂 Maybe not all in one go. But it’s all coming up…soon! 🙂 Watch this space! 🙂

Sunflowers, Sunshine and Wide Smiles. Smile away, people! 🙂

The Kreativ Blogger and Versatile Blogger Award

Today, when I logged in to my WordPress account, I was surprised to find this comment saying I was nominated for the Kreativ Blogger and Versatile Blogger award! I was smiling so wide and…well, I was super-happy!! That would be more like an understatement, I guess.

Anyway, I was nominated by Deepika from Purple Booky. Her blog is all about the books she has read… She is a bookworm, just like me. And our tastes seem to be a lot similar, judging from the books in her list. So, Deepika, here’s a great, big THANK YOU for nominating me. Congratulations to you, too, on receiving the award! Now, the rules of the Versatile Blogger and Kreativ Blogger awards involve mentioning 10 random facts about myself (7, in the case of VBA) and nominating some fellow bloggers for the awards. So, here goes!

10 random facts about myself:

  • I love writing long e-mails. And most of my friends love reading them!! 🙂
  • I love the unpredictability in life. I don’t think I could stand it if life turned predictable!
  • My favourite colour is red.
  • I’m not at all into sports, not even as a spectator (unless it involves cute guys!).
  • I’m stubborn, which is typical of Taureans.
  • I love traveling, even though I haven’t been to many places.
  • France is my dream destination…one place I definitely want to visit some time in life!
  • Growing up, I always wanted to be a doctor.
  • I love asking crazy questions though others don’t enjoy answering them!
  • I’m not a Facebook-addict like so many of my friends!

Now, to nominate some of my fellow bloggers:
